didn't i read somewhere recently that the album jumped back several places up the official album chart? ((i may have imagined this... if so pls ignore me *lolz))
possible that 'commercial failure' only relates to YDKL, and not how it has possibly trickled back into positive feedback for the band overall, and album sales....? _________________ "Love. What is it? Most natural painkiller there is. LOVE." - william s burroughs - |

for what its worth, i really like the artwork for this single. loving the water towers and Battersea Power Station, its probably my favorite. now if they would kindly release Bricks and Mortar on 12" blue vinyl, with the artwork being the skyline thing, with the London eye and Westminster abbey, and the BT Tower on it, and i will be very, very content haha! _________________ Damn this place, makes a boy out of me. |

if papillon the most radio friendly song on the album could only reach 23 in the charts, then it was always gonna be tough for the next single,
i fear the next single may share the same fate as YDKL :/ |

i wonder if the singles/downloads chart is just a hangover from the days when they still mattered.... like a lingering racial memory!
oh for the days when we all tuned into Bruno Brookes (or whoever your era was) and CARED about the rundown.....
sigh.... jumpers for goalposts etc....
as Blackout says above, i fear the worst for ERM (if next single it be). Still, it'll get out there, be heard amidst the media-white-noise-infostream, and that's no bad thing... _________________ "Love. What is it? Most natural painkiller there is. LOVE." - william s burroughs - |

to me they are purely promotional tools now
ydkl... few more album sales and shift a few more tickets.
the next single will be for more album sales and prolly festivals etc.
while the numbers prolly wouldnt have made much difference but the3 lack of a physical release lost a ot of slaes amonst fans that like to collect.
persoanlly, it was the first time i didnt buy a single release as i dont believe in downloads at all. i did buy promo's of it etc but they dont count in terms of release sales lol. _________________ Love on the filthy streets is so divine. |

OK, the singles charts don't matter. But despite their promotional appearances - The Sun, 6Music, XFM, Virgin - and playing to millions of people on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, they failed to make the top 100.
Now someone's going to say something like "Singles are only there to help sell albums".
Last week, ITL&OTE was at #75 in the album chart. This week it's #94.
There's the facts, now give me a word to describe the release of 'You Don't Know Love'. |

i doubt anyone here would be complaining if it was in top 20 singles in the uk. we all be saying "yeah they deserve it" etc
oh and my local hmv is selling the album for a mega £16 for just the single disc, and there are piles of copyies, that not gonna boost sales at all |
