Had a lovely evening yesterday drinking cocktails in Camden and planning a trip to Italy with one of my friends. Very excited about going to Pompeii (I was a geek at school and studied Latin and Classical Civilisation). My latin teacher said she'd take us to Pompeii but never did because our class wasn't well behaved enough. Rolling Eyes

nothing geeky about studying the Classics, it's the most exciting thing out there! And, Pompeii is awesome & so is Herculeanum. Try & do both if you can, as you will get a better view of different types of life. Very Happy I wish I could go back there

my current fave historical period is that of the Mexica (Aztecs/Mayans). Ive just been reading about how they mocked people from different regions, so would do ritual dances where the 'idiotic and sex-mad' neighbours would be readily identified *lolz

Haha!

In reply to Tilly.. yes, I want to do Herculeanum as well, and definitely go to Mt Vesuvius. I read that from Herculeanum they do a guiided tour to the crater.

I've just ordered the Cambridge Latin Course Book 1 from Amazon to refresh my memory of Latin and Roman history before I go Laughing Cool

Pompeii is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited, you'll love it. Just talking about it makes me want to go back. Smile

I would never go travelling on my own, think it's too dangerous.

Yes Nautilus, I am so excited Very Happy I've wanted to go for so long. I feel sorry for the friend I'm going with, I'll probably want to stay all day and take a billion photos, and spend forever trying to translate any latin I see Laughing

After an 11 day working week I just had my first day off. Some would probably call me a work-a-holic. I had absolutely NO clue what to do today. LOL!
